Speech contestants, judges, and contest volunteers need to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to start time of the contest for briefing by the contest organizer and/or chief judge. Consider volunteering as a sargeant-at-arms, vote counter, timer, or judge. The organizers would appreciate the help! Please see the online contest calendar for a complete list of upcoming contest dates.
Contest Rules:  Do you know the answers?
  • Who is eligible to compete in a contest?
  • How many judges, counters and timers are required at an Area contest? Division contest? District contest?
  • What are the timing limitations for the Table Topics Contest?
  • What are additional requirements for International Speech contestants?
  • What are the rules concerning protests and disqualifications?
  • What logos can be printed on certificates, awards, and ribbons, and which logos may be printed on agendas?
These and many more questions come up every contest season. All participants including contestants, chairs, judges, etc., should review the rules in advance and have a copy of the rulebook handy at the contest.
