Proposed Goals set forth by Toastmasters International: District Club Goal: 170 Current Standing: 175 District Membership Paid Goal: 6408 Current Standing: 310 3 Newly Chartered Clubs “ExcelOrators” Grass Valley Advanced Club Charter Date August 10th “Ramblers in Reno” New Club in Reno Charter Date August 12th “400 Toast” New Club in Sacramento Charter Date August 24th What a great start to a great year! Demo Meetings We have held 10 different demo meetings during the months of August and the beginning of September. The possibilities of new clubs are endless! I encourage you to look around your community and see where a company or organization could benefit from a Toastmasters club. Provide the lead and my team and I will work with you to make that contact. It can be scary at first, but in the end it is very rewarding. Club Fitness Program The Club Fitness Program (CFP) will be ready to implement this September. The CFP is a program that helps clubs that have between 13-19 members achieve charter strength. It does this by assessing the strengths and weaknesses of the clubs and assisting the club leaders in creating a plan of action for improvement. The plan of action will consist of providing the tools, training and the resources needed to those clubs to help ensure that they are successful. Currently, there are 45 clubs that qualify for the CFP. 45 clubs equals 27% of our District. If we can help those clubs improve and strengthen them from within, we will be 27% stronger as a District. Emma Santa is the CFP Chair and she is looking for Club Specialists. She can be contacted by e-mail or phone. 530-913-0819 Emma.Santa@District39.org
Club Coaching Program The Club Coaching Program (CCP) is a program established by Toastmasters International (TI) in order to help the struggling clubs that have 12 or fewer members. They are assigned a club coach from outside of their own club who comes in and helps assess the strengths and weaknesses and then build a stronger club together. Coaches are assigned when the club doesn't have enough man/woman power to build the club up to charter strength. There are currently 48 clubs that qualify for the CCP, which makes up 29% of our District. Contact has been made with all 48 clubs informing them that they have the option to implement a club coach. The responses have been great so far! If we can help these clubs improve, we will be 29% stronger as a District. Ilene Martzen is the CCP Chair and she is looking for Club Coaches. She can be contacted by e-mail or phone. 405-812-6335 ilene@izzaink.com
Where do you stand? The Distinguished Club Program (DCP) is the yard stick that every club in the world is measured by. It is how Toastmasters International gets us, as individuals, to contribute and achieve our goals by giving credit to the club. What you do at the club level is important in the grand scheme. Focus on the DCP and work the program. It has been said by some that goals 7 and 8 (4 new members times two) are the hardest goals to get. Yet if you look at last year's DCP success 138 clubs achieved goal 7 (4 new members) and 75 clubs achieved goal 8 (4 more new members). With that, I've ranked the clubs from number 1 to number 168 based on last year's DCP. Where do you stand? How can you improve? Contact me and I will share this information with you. Get with your team and together you can be the best club in the District!
Smedley Award If your club adds 5 New, Dual, or Reinstated members between August 1st and September 30th, it will receive the “Smedley Award.” This award includes a ribbon to display on your club's banner. In addition, the District will provide you with a $25.00 gift certificate to the Toastmasters International Store. With the new rebranding, this is the perfect prize to supply your club with new swag. You will also receive 10% off your next club purchase from Toastmasters International.
Open House From August 1 to September 30, hold an open house for your club, send the Lt. Governor Marketing a copy of the sign-in register, and tell me the names of any guests who joined during the open house or at one of your next two meetings. For each new member your club will receive your club President's choice of one of the following:
A manual from the Successful Club Series or
A manual from the Better Speaker Series
or
A Manual from the Leadership Excellence Series
Dues Increase Dues have been increased by the Board of Directors of Toastmasters International. $27.00 is no longer the International fee. They have been increased to $36.00. This takes effect for the new dues period. Here are some frequently asked questions: If I pay the dues for the next 6 months, before the October 1st date, can I pay the old price? No. Since you are paying for the next dues cycle, you must pay the $36.00 International Fees which is due on October 1. I'm in the process of chartering a new club. Do I have to pay the new dues? No and Yes. If you charter before October 1st, you pay the $27.00 International fees. However, if you charter after October 1st, you will pay the $36.00 International fees in addition to the other fees required to charter a club. Will dues be increased like this again in the next year or so? No. The Board of Directors reviews the dues every two to three years. Is there a place on the International website that can answer further questions? Yes. http://www.toastmasters.org/2011duesincrease
