Herb Yarborough Sustained Service Award

herby1

This award was created to honor those Toastmasters who contribute service to Toastmasters over a sustained number of years AND who may not have been following a leadership track goal.

Herb Yarborough was a foresighted man who was enthusiastic about what Toastmasters can do for everyone.  A military background influenced his drive to pull the best from all of his officers.  When he was District Governor in helping them set goals, he was determined to lead everyone to high standards.

He was renowned for his contributions to the culinary arts.  His nut bread was a favorite at Board Meetings.  Home made pies were another source of fame.  Those who traveled to Toastmaster functions with him in his Honda Civic knew that he had a professional immunity to traffic violations.

The Herb Yarborough Sustained Service Award was established by District Governor Herb Long in 1987.
